Jacomo Sailing Club
National Marina Day Success!!
Jackson County Parks & Rec., Bass Pro Shops, and the Jacomo Sailing Club teamed up for the Annual National Marina Day Celebration at Lake Jacomo Marina. Thanks to the effort and engagement of the volunteers and the Jacomo Yacht Club, we provided over 370 sailing rides on both Keelboats and Dinghies. Most of the visitors had never been on a sailboat before and they had a blast being out on the water. Hopefully, we inspired them to come back out with us again this summer and join the club. A big shout out to all the volunteers, skippers, and friends that pitched in and helped with making this such a great success. Your time at the Marina Day Celebration appreciated and will count towards your member volunteer commitment.
A special Thank You to Alyssa Thomas for coordinating the event for us.
The Club’s Spring series continues on Sunday afternoons. The first start is promptly at 1:30pm consisting of 2 races. This series runs every Sunday through to June 23rd. Please reference the NOR (Notice of Race) link to your left.
Remember, your membership dues must be up to date in order to compete in the club series.
The Wednesday night Sail into Summer series has begun and will go through to August 7th. This event is very casual (no protests, just for fun). This is primarily a social event; however, the event host may include sailing games, skills exercises, casual racing, coaching, mentoring, or other activities to promote the club, its activities and sailing in general. No score keeping will be made and no activity will count toward a trophy.
The Cruiser Spring Regatta!
Come all keelboats to our first ever Cruiser Spring Regatta on June 22nd and give racing a try!
9am - Skipper's Meeting - West Pavilion (near marina) - Coffee and snacks will be provided
12pm - First Start (3 races are planned)
4pm - Planned finish
The cost of this event is FREE. We wish to encourage all keelboat sailors on Jacomo to try out a JSC race; We host some of the finest racing events in the Midwest.
If you have a boat and need crew, let us know. If you'd like to sail and need on a boat, let us know.
This regatta is designed to encourage cruiser sailors to participate in racing and the courses raced will reflect the special needs of larger boats. All yachts will sail the same course and are scored on a Portsmouth handicap basis. It will be at the PRO’s discretion to set the course for each race, three races are planned. We will plan to conclude racing about 4 pm.
