Jacomo Sailing Club the Kansas City Sailing
Resource!
The Jacomo Sailing Club is
the oldest public sailing club in the Kansas City area. It was founded in 1958
and has a rich history of running top notch one design races on Lake Jacomo.
Contact the Jacomo Sailing Club today. We can provide a starting point for your
introduction into sailing, racing and fun on the water. The club welcomes all
new interested beginner sailors, even if you have never sailed. There are fleet
activities forming every year for novice and junior sailors. The Jacomo Sailing
Club is a member of both the Central States Sailing Association
(CSSA) and US Sailing. The club
holds Sunday afternoon races, from May through October. The races start at 1:30,
and boats sail from both Sailboat Cove on the East side, and the marina on the
West side.
2010
Saturday August 21st - Open Sail Day
Meet us at the west side
ramp near the Jacomo marina on the large concrete pier 1:00-4:00 PM.
Sail days are our clubs equivalent of an open house, but with boats. We bring
out several of the different fleet boats to show to people who are interested in
the club, and take them out for a spin. This is an excellent opportunity for you
to see what the racing boats look like up close, and to get a feel for how they
sail.
Thinking of buying a boat and would like to sail one before you make
your investment? Then join us, the Open Sail Day is a way you can contact us or
come out to the lake and introduce yourself to the club members.
2010 Attendence

2010 Two of a Kind August 8th
This
trophy is awarded to the winner of the Two-of-a-Kind Regatta which is held
during the year. This regatta matches two members of a class , sailing their own
boats, in a series of races scored on a handicap basis.
The trophy is a silver bowl donated by the Bank of Jacomo.
JSC FunSail/Student Sail: Sunday August 1
Instead of regular races on
Sunday, Aug 1, we have a Fun Sail/Student Sail scheduled. This is open
to all students and crews who have sailed this year. We plan on having a
cruiser, a C-scow, 2-3 Sweet 16s, and a Windmill or two. The format will
be for the boat owner (or other designated skipper) to take out students
to give them on the water time, and if the wind cooperates, tiller time
as well. We might even throw a mark or two in the water if there is
interest. We will start at 1:30pm at the West ramp area.
